Winter Cheering Preview
The Tigers Cheering team lost four seniors from the 2017-18 squad and have three seniors coming into this year. The Tigers placed last in all their competitions last year, but with the return of veteran head coach Kacie Weymouth things could be turning around. She is looking for improvement from last year and feels with the three seniors and the strength of the underclassmen, this could be done.

In past years, Dexter and Central always were neck and neck in our area. According to Coach Weymouth, when asked about her competition this year, she reiterated that, “I try to focus on my team, but Central is always a strong contender.”

Winter Cheering Write-ups
Showcase at Hampden: Cheering went out with an incomplete routine due to a cheerleader receiving a concussion two days before the competition. Considering being short and having gaps, Dexter came in 4 out of 6 in class C at the Showcase.
PVCs at Lincoln: Cheering went out ready to perform at Mattanawcook Academy for the PVC competition. The routine went well, although a mishap in the pyramid caused a late finish.
Regionals at Cross Insurance Center: Dexter showed up to Regionals on January 26th at the Bangor Cross Center and performed their best routine of the season. The routine consisted of a pyramid with hand-release spins and back flips to one leg. We had three tumblers on the mat that day, and strong dances and expressions. Unfortunately, it was not enough to qualify for States, but the work has already been started for next year.
End of Season Plans: The cheerleaders continue their season by cheering at the home games and supporting our boys' and girls' basketball teams throughout their tournament play. The cheerleaders also will be hosting a KFC fundraiser at the end of the month on February 28th.
