Preview for the 2017 season
The Dexter Tigers Baseball team is looking to improve upon a semi-final appearance from the previous year to make a deeper run this season. The Tigers are returning a majority of their roster having only lost three seniors. A strong point for the team will come from the mound with a majority of the pitching staff returning a year older, and a year stronger. The pitching staff will be led by Jacob Bickford, and Brayden Miller but with the change in pitching rules(innings pitched to total pitches) the Tigers will benefit from having a deep pitching rotation. The roster will again be filled by mostly underclassmen as the Tigers only have two seniors on the roster. A few key players to watch this season would be senior Brayden Miller, and junior Jacob Bickford. Not only are they solid pitchers they are great all around players. Miller averaged a batting average of 367, which also landed him on second team all-conference. Bickford won a playoff game last year on the mound for Dexter, and looks to use the confidence he gained from that win for this upcoming season. He will be asked to perform as the Ace this year for the Tigers. The Tigers schedule is filled with solid teams in their division which will constantly test the Tigers and will let them test themselves against the top teams in the league. A welcomed challenge, the Tigers are excited to start the season and get on the field. With the numbers coming back and the amount of pitching on the roster, it is very possible the Tigers go 10-6 this season with a playoff birth and deep run possible.
