The team was lead by their senior group, David Kirshkahn (RG, DT), Caleb Weeks (WR, C), Ryan Davis (LT, DE), and Dillon Allen (RB, SS). The small but quick offense averaged 274 yards a game, and special teams helped by adding on average 80 yards a game. Junior QB and team captain Logan Perkins threw for 480 yards and 10 TD. Dillion Allen lead the team in rushing with 551 yards and 4 TD. The three alternating running backs were Parker Ponte (287 yds), Gage Stone (265 yds), and Cameron Paige (208 yds). The leading receiver was Caleb weeks with 7 catches for 243 yards and 4 TD. The team was 0 for 8 on 2-points conversions, and 17 for 21 for PAT’s. When David was suited up the Tigers had arguably the top defense in the league, allowing on average only 11 points in the first 7 games. But the defensive line was hurt badly when David injured his knee, and Parker Richardson was terribly sick. The loss of the two starters weakened our run defense greatly, and the team couldn’t adjust in time. The top tacklers in descending order are Haedyn Guenther (36.5), Parker Ponte (35.5), Colton Tibbetts (33), Dillion Allen (32.5), and Gage Stone (31). All five had more than 30 tackles in the regular season. The two defensive ends, Haedyn Guenther and Ryan Davis, made a lot of plays for the tigers. The cousins had a combined 56 tackles, 10 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries. Coach Shorey: “This season did not end up the way we had hoped. However, it was still a very successful season. We had a lot of people getting their first varsity minutes, and the growth from the beginning of the year to the end was phenomenal to watch. I loved coaching this group of seniors. We expected a lot out of them and their effort was outstanding. Offensively we have a lot of talent coming back and I expect us to continue to get better. I can't wait to see what next year holds for our team, we are returning 8 starters on both sides of the ball.” 2018 Football Write-ups October 27, 2018 In Dexter, the 4 seed Tigers lost to the 5 seed Washington Academy Raiders in the 1st round of the playoffs.
