2020 Softball Preview
The 2020 Dexter Tigers softball team is ready to win it all this year. Last season the Lady Tigers beat Naraguagus in the Northern Maine Regional Championship, however they lost in the Championship game to defending champs Madison High School. Coach Jason Hardy says, “I'm excited about the players we have coming back. Last year's success in the playoffs, in the Northern Maines, and Championship game has given our players a lot of postseason experience that I think will be very valuable to this year's team. We have a great group of upperclassmen that are returning and I'm looking forward to seeing what this year has to offer.”
Knowing the softball season starts at a later date this year, Coach Hardy says, “ Although it's frustrating we aren’t able to start this season on our normal schedule we all are making the changes that are needed during this difficult time. Safety and health are the number one concern so we are taking the precautions that are necessary.” The Tigers have some key returning players that will help immensely throughout the season, but there's also some key positions that are open for grabs. Seniors Cloe Mountain, Regan McNally, and Caitlyn Hardy will be very important players in this year's season. In addition to those seniors, the Tigers have some other very important role players. These people are Avery Herrick, Peyton Grant, and Cheyenne Beem who are all great assets to the softball team. This year, the Tigers will need a few underclassmen to step up and fill some very crucial spots. Hopefully, these ladies are ready to give it all they got to help bring the Dexter Tigers back to the Championship game.

The 2019 Dexter Tigers’ softball team will have almost all returning players except Kaitlyn Webber who graduated last year. However, they will start out the year with new coaches. Previous assistant and JV coach Jason Hardy will now be the Tigers head coach, and assisting him will be Robert Ranquist. The Dexter Tigers will have a lot of new freshmen joining the team this year along with a handful of senior players as well. Senior players like Addyson Herrick, Tory Asbury, Abigail Paige, and Kaylee Harris will be key players to the Tigers success this year. Other players that will play an important role for the Dexter are Juniors Cloe Mountain, and Caitlyn Hardy. Sophomores Peyton Grant, Avery Herrick, and Cheyenne Beem will contribute greatly to this team as well. New head coach Jason Hardy stated, “this spring we have several returning starters who bring valuable experience to our dugout. I look forward to helping our players improve their skills throughout the season and build upon last years success.” With most of their returning players the Tigers should be able to work together and put up a good fight against the tough teams like Central and Bucksport that are on Dexter’s schedule. Senior Addyson Herrick said, “we have a lot of returning players in key positions, that will be intricate to a successful season. I’m excited to see us all come together again and hopefully be stronger than ever.”
